My 10-year-old son Colin has had the pleasure of taking drum lessons from Scott McClelland for more than a year and he enjoys it very much. Scott has a great rapport with my son and he teaches him at his own pace. Even when Colin is having a difficult time with something, Scotty patiently works with him until the concept/skill is fully understood and mastered. I can see Colin’s progression over the short period of time that Scott has been working with him and I am more than pleased that he has found terrific hobby and a teacher that he really connects with. Scott has made my son’s experience with music a very positive one.
I would highly recommend Scott to anyone interested in taking music lessons.
Thank you Scotty

Here is what Colin has to say:
I have been taking drum lessons from Scotty McClelland at Music Exploration for 14 months and I really like it. Scotty is a good teacher. He is nice, patient, funny, and he teaches me a lot about drumming. He is a good drummer and can play a lot of instruments that I have never even heard of. I think everyone should take music lessons from Scotty!!
Sincerely

I enjoy taking music lessons with Scott McClelland. I enjoy them because he is a good teacher. Scott McClelland knows how to play many instruments very well, like the drums, bass guitar, guitar, and trumpet. He explains how to play in depth with the instrument of your choice. Scott has a very well organized system of teaching so you have fun playing your instrument. The way he teaches is easy to learn and fun. Scott is very “in the know” with the instruments and music in general. Scott is very professional with his classes. That is why I enjoy music lessons with Scott.

I would like to take this opportunity to say how pleased we are with the progress our sons Curtis and Blake have made taking guitar and bass lessons from Scott McClelland, (Music Exploration). The classes are fun and technically informative and the boys thoroughly enjoy the time they spend with Scott learning their instrument.
If you are considering registering in music lessons, we highly recommend giving Scott at Music Exploration a call.

I don’t think that there is anything that needs to be changed or improved on because all of your teaching methods are excellent! I like that lessons are not like school where stuff is just given to us and the teacher just tells us to figure it out! I think that using the metronome for everything is good, because it improves rhythm, and I like the idea of using that thing called “the routine”, because it helps with timing and note recognition. In conclusion, I think that all methods are good and there is nothing that has to be improved on.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas, so to get to the point, I think there is virtually nothing you could do to improve upon in your teaching methods. I believe you should keep the same method year in, and year out!

I have taken guitar lessons from Scotty for 6 years, and found him to be an excellent teacher. I took lessons from another teacher and didn’t advance nearly as fast. My daughter takes drum lessons and I’m amazed at how fast she is learning and how well she plays. I highly recommend Scott as a music teacher.

Scott is a great teacher. He is always positive and helps me to fix things if I’m doing something incorrectly. I have been taking drum lessons for a year and a half and never had a problem. When he teaches, he gives you help and hints on how to do it better. I hope that some day I will be able to be a part of his student band. Also, at Christmas time he gives you a candy cane! Scott is an awesome teacher.

Scott has been giving me guitar lessons since September 2005. He has taught me a lot, and is very good at giving you the information needed to progress. He tells you when you do a good job, and he gives you stickers every time that you practice. Scott’s music lessons teach you an instrument that you want to learn. Scott’s music lessons are awesome !!

On behalf of Sean and I, I’d like to thank you so much for your continuous efforts to encourage and coach Sean through his drum lessons. Since beginning lessons with you in April 2003, Sean has always maintained a positive attitude towards coming for lessons as you have managed to balance very adeptly the theory and technical training that so often is a bit boring for young people, with Sean’s own personal interests in music. Even Sean’s attitude towards practice has been positive due, I think, to the patient and balanced approach that you take with the students you teach and the parents that keep bringing them back to you. Beyond this, you have given Sean the necessary seeds for broader learning by exposing him to other musical influences, the excitement of recording and allowing him to experience music as much as study it.
Don’t let it go to your head, now! Seriously, we have been most satisfied with your efforts, knowledge, and style of teaching and I am sure that Sean will continue to benefit from your teaching long into the future.
Sincerely,
-Ian Sutherland

For the past 6 years, Mr. Scott McClelland has been our son Mathew Thomas’s guitar teacher. Mr. McClelland has shaped Mathew from a beginner in music an outstanding lead guitarist. Mr. McClelland does not teach just a basic course, he teaches an enriched detailed course that is focused on technical skills, theory, while also encouraging the student to be creative once he/she has reached a level of competency. He is dedicated to teaching his students all the important aspects of music to develop their skills and creativity. He helps them to remain focused, yet teaches them to have fun while learning. As a teacher and mentor, our son continues to enjoy and thrive under Mr. McClelland’s guidance.
Mathew is also in Mr. McClelland’s student band where the focus is on being a team player, while developing individual creative expression. Mr. McClelland is adept at cultivating each student’s ability to achieve his or her full potential. We have seen the student band of three individuals become friends and work together as a team that strives to be the best they can be, this is all due to Mr. McClelland’s ability to be a respected leader, instructor, and friend. This is truly a great environment for students to learn in, and we would recommend Mr. McClelland to to anybody who is serious about developing their skills/knowledge or learning to play a musical instrument. Mr. McClelland’s years of experience both personal and professional, plus his ability to enhance his students’ skills by striving to reach their full potential, makes him an exceptionally qualified instructor.
Sincerely
